After receiving massive response in other parts of India, now Post Offices in Haryana will also sell ‘Penta Bharat’ phones as part of postal department’s Digital India initiative.
In a bid to make ‘Digital India’ dream a reality, India Post and BSNL have entered into an agreement with Pantel Technologies Private Limited (PTPL), a company based out in Noida (UP), to sell PF 301 'Penta Bharat’ phone through the post offices. So far, more than 70,000 ‘Penta Bharat’ phones have been sold in a period of less than a year.
Chief Postmaster General of Haryana Circle Col. Sukhdev Raj on Wednesday handed over the first mobile phone handset to a buyer in Ambala, launching sale of mobile phones from head post offices. Initially, these phones will be available in all head post offices and some other major post offices in the state. The initiative will cover other post offices in due course.
The phone is priced at INR 1,999 and comes with 1,999 minutes of free talk time from BSNL over a period of 18 months. Penta PF 301 is a keyboard operated phone that has several attractive features, like 2.8” wide screen, dual sim, FM radio, audio player, torch, Camera and is internet enabled. It is strong and sturdy with a powerful battery that lasts for a week in standby mode without charging. The phone comes with one year comprehensive warranty.
Prior to this, India Post had started this initiative in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya.
